Your Pet? No! Your Friend.

What is love? How it is made?

Those are common questions for the people who fall in love from time to time. As humans, we see it as an emotion which attracts someone in mind and body to another, Mostly in a different gender. But there are some love stories unspoken of. Moments earlier A girl called me saying that her cat went missing. She was desperate and crying. That gave me the idea to find some interesting facts about animals who love us. 

Most families in Sri Lanka has a pet. Most of the time the pet is really a pet. But in some instances, The Pet has become one of the family. They feed the pet and let it be with the family just because they love the creature while the others keep the pet for protection and use. In either way, people keep animals in their houses often. Take an example of a cat. I choose a cat because of the above mentioned scenario. The cat has a very small brain. Comparatively, it is 1% of their total body mass. However, the foldings of the brain of a cat and it's structure are about 90% similar to a human brain. That means they could be capable of experiencing love in various forms. But it is not proven in a theoretical way. But as you we can conclude, they just don't treat you as the person who gives you food. They see you as a friend. Sometimes a lover. 

In Psychology, one of the primary lessons is about an experiment on dogs feeling the human as their friend who gives food. It was used theoretically to prove 'Classical Conditioning' but in here we can use it to prove my fact too. In 1890, a Russian physiologist, Ivan Parlov did an experiment on salivation of dogs in response to being fed. He inserted a small tube in dog's cheeks to measure the releasing amount of saliva. He predicted that dogs would react only when the food is given to feed. But he realized they reacted even to the sound of footprints the person who fed them make. In psychology, it means a whole different idea but as humans, we can understand that they started to bond with the person who fed them. I hope you have heard that the dogs even be with the owners after their death. Many scenes were reported that the dog is sleeping near the owner's grave. 

There are several facts to prove that animals love you and your family if you treat them well. Why I am writing this article is that I felt a connection between the girl who called me and her cat was so strong. Normally people would just give up after a day of hope. But she never did. She searched for the cat everywhere she could. And she felt depressed that the cat was not treated well before leaving. She thought that she was not good in treating the cat. 

Guys, it is a rare fact that we care for someone, Other than the family. So if you guys have a pet animal, please be good enough to treat them in the best way possible. Remember, you might see several pets in your lifetime. But your pet has only you for their very small lifetime.
